3D Printing Construction

About This Service
MDS12 is proud to be an official representative of Pro Build 3D, bringing large-scale construction 3D printing to Florida. Using robotic concrete printers, we build structural walls layer by layer -- a faster, more sustainable alternative to traditional framing, without compromising the design quality MDS12 is known for.

How It Works
• 01 Design — Modeled in SketchUp or Revit, then sliced into a precise print path with Simplify3D or Cura.
• 02 Set Up — The printer arrives like equipment, not infrastructure. Ready to print within hours, indoors or on site.
• 03 Mix — An integrated mixing and pumping system keeps the concrete consistent from the first layer to the last.
• 04 Print — Walls are extruded layer by layer, with an operator monitoring the print in real time.
• 05 Finish — Standard trades take over: roofing, electrical, plumbing, and finishes proceed as usual.

Why 3D Printing
• Speed — faster construction timelines, start to finish.
• Cost-Effectiveness — lower labor costs and less material waste.
• Customization — intricate, one-of-a-kind architectural details, made easy.
• Sustainability — less waste, more sustainable materials.

3D-Printed Construction
The house is built with 3D-printed concrete wall sections with vacuum insulation, using local resources — desert sand, recycled construction waste, and palm-fiber biocomposites — directly in the print mix. It's the same construction technology behind MDS12's Pro Build 3D partnership, applied to a signature, one-of-a-kind home.

Tested Materials & Structure
Every mix we use is put through standardized testing before it's approved for printing -- extrusion trials, flow-table and setting-time tests, and compression and flexural strength testing on cured samples. Printed beams and wall sections also go through full-scale structural testing, including side-by-side comparisons with conventional cast-in-place concrete.

Certified Materials
Every wall is printed with SikaCrete 733W, from Sika — a global leader in construction chemicals — independently tested and certified to ASTM standards: 7,250 psi compressive strength (ASTM C109) and 1,150 psi flexural strength (ASTM C348) at 28 days, with a 93.5 durability factor after 300 freeze-thaw cycles (ASTM C666).

Real-World Projects
This technology is already part of new construction for Walmart — including the first 21-ft-tall 3D-printed walls ever built for the retailer (8,000 sq ft) — alongside a 1.4-million-dollar custom home and single-family homes currently under construction in Florida.

The Concept
Zahrat Al-Rimal ("Sand Flower") is MDS12's House of the Future — a completed home that shows what large-scale 3D-printed construction makes possible when paired with bold architectural form. Built for a desert climate, the house appears to float: a continuous glass ribbon separates the ground and upper floors, and a 30° cantilevered shift gives the upper level a dramatic, gravity-defying presence. The design blends Emirati architectural heritage — arched openings, a wind-tower-inspired silhouette — with a futuristic, parametric language of angular geometry and shifting light.

Sustainability & Smart Systems
Beyond its form, the house is built around self-sufficiency: passive-cooling wind towers (barjeel) paired with dynamic, light-responsive glass reduce the energy needed for cooling; rooftop photovoltaic panels with battery storage make the home self-sufficient in electricity; and an underground geocellular system captures and stores rainwater on site.
